Can We Give Each Other a Fair Hearing?
Hermeneutics, humility, and the challenge of listening well.
Rev Dr Kamal Weerakoon, a member of the WEWG Committee joins us to talk through the spectrum of views surrounding men and women serving together in the church. You can see Kamal's thoughts on the this here.
Rather than debating “who’s right”, this conversation is really about learning to listen well to one another — especially as we try to understand the good instincts and fears sitting underneath the different positions. We discuss the spectrum between complementarianism and egalitarianism, and the way culture, experience, and hermeneutics shape how we read Scripture.
Kamal helpfully affirms the importance of gracious humility in theological disagreement, encouraging us to give one another a fair hearing even when we don’t arrive at the same conclusions.
